A Fan's Recap of the Status Green CD Release Party

On Saturday night at the legendary Stone Pony, Status Green hosted what all in attendance believed will represent the first of many important nights in the future for this band.  As the spotlight in front of the venue spanned the sky above, fan after fan filled the venue for an officially “sold out” concert.  The night served as both a release party for the new album “Cheap Sunglasses” and a send off of sorts as the band embarks upon their first major national tour.

The importance of the night was not lost to the band’s many fans, as all who support Status Green believe that the band is destined for big things.  Reality tends to be blurred when it comes to a fan’s opinion of “their” band especially when the members are a product of all things local.  Many people considered them friends before they became a fan of their music.  Critics and cynics can classify this as blind loyalty when it comes to the actual art being produced but in this particular case, the music is what matters.

Friends will follow friends through all highs and lows in life but it takes more than some childhood memories and high school parties to pack the Stone Pony.  Saturday night was a celebration of a band that can make it.  There are millions of local bands playing clubs and bars every night all over this land but once in awhile it has to be said “why not them?” That’s what Status Green’s fans truly believe when they scream and dance to any of the band’s well-crafted original songs.  This is not some Jersey Shore bar cover band.  This is a talented group of guys that have created a sound that not only delivers tight musicianship and strong lyrics but also excels at what’s most important in rock and roll: getting people dancing.  The energy put forth on every song from the stage is contagious and each song is strong enough on its own to command repeat listens from their three albums.

Any band worth it’s while should want to create their own space in the music world.  Not every band will succeed.  Luck is not omnipresent but it can be met halfway.  Status Green has what it takes to truly become something special not only in the clubs of New Jersey but on the stages, radios and iPods of many, many people.  The throngs of people in the Stone Pony on Saturday night believe this too.  They wouldn’t have been there if they didn’t.  We gathered to celebrate what the band has become but more importantly what they can become.  Most bands will never make it and that’s the cold truth of the music industry but if the rest of the country finds out what we already know, they may also say “why not them?”

I couldn't agree more! Status Green has what it takes. I did not grow up with the band, didn't go to high school with them - I heard them once two years ago and I am hooked. I find their sound appealing to everyone - young and old alike join together to dance and sing and shake their fists to familiar songs at a Status Green show. They are the real deal...the music is original and current AND at the same time, takes you back to a time when Rock n Roll was new and pure. The lyrics are fun, genuine and catchy. The musicianship is obvious, they are well trained and talented artists. The men of Status Green definitely have star appeal, each stylish and handsome for sure. They are the whole package, the real deal and I am sure they will "make it"...but for now, I am happy we get to have them as our own local rockers.
